The following was submitted by Ward 8 City Councilor Judi Bucci:

Dear Residents:

You are invited to attend a neighborhood meeting on Monday evening, Oct. 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Linden School cafeteria at 29 Wescott St. to learn more about a proposal to convert the former Linden Fire Station into a six-unit residential complex.

David Traggorth, from the Boston-based Traggorth Companies LLC, will be on hand at the meeting to present his plans for the adaptive reuse of the property. A key criteria was the restoration and use of the existing fire station. Traggorth was one of three developers who replied to a publicly advertised Request for Proposals. His was the only proposal that retained the building; the other two proposals called for the demolition of the existing property. He is proposing to develop the site into six one- and two-bedroom loft-style units.

Other attendees at the meeting will include staff members from the Malden Redevelopment Authority, who were tasked by the City of Malden to determine what would be the best re-use for this public property.

You are invited to hear the presentation and ask your questions so that an informed decision can ultimately be made by the City of Malden for the re-use of this site.  Any decision to convey this property to another owner is contingent on the approval of the full Malden City Council.

As the Ward Councilor who represents this neighborhood, I strongly encourage you to attend this important presentation and discussion so that the best decision for the future re-use of this property can be made with your input.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 781-321-8125 or e-mail me at ward8info@yahoo.com.
