A Malden man has been ordered held on $100,000 bail on charges he allegedly raped a young child being cared for by his mother, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office.
Robert Guevara, 18, was arrested by Malden Police Wednesday on two counts of aggravated rape for allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulting a child between February 2011 and December 2012, the announcement said.
Guevara's mother was the victim's babysitter, the statement said.
"These are troubling allegations against a man who we allege took advantage of, and sexually assaulted a young vulnerable victim," Leone said in a written statement. "Compounding the troubling nature of the allegations, is the fact that the defendant gained access to the child while the child was in the care of the defendant's mother."
In an arraignment in Malden District Court, Judge Antoinette Leoney set bail at $100,000, with conditions that Guevara have no contact with the victims, any child under 18, and that he wear a tracking bracelet, if he posts bail, the statement said. He is expected to appear in court Jan. 29 for a probable cause hearing.
This case remains under investigation, the statement said. Anyone with information is asked to call the district attorney's office at 781-897-8400.
