Watertown, Wakefield, Danvers, Malden schools score at Malden Catholic's 20th annual quiz bowl

Congressman Edward Markey, a 1964 graduate of Malden Catholic, recently visited the school's Quiz Bowl for local middle school students.  He spoke to students about the importance of college preparation.  The Congressman is pictured with Malden Catholic sophomores Brian Senier of Melrose and Andrew Ward of Saugus.

The following was submitted by Malden Catholic High School: 

Malden Catholic recently held its 20th Annual Quiz Bowl, where sixteen local public and parochial schools met in academic competition.  More than 200 local students were challenged with questions relating to mathematics, literature, science, art and culture.  After several rounds of questions, answers, and wildcard round enthusiasm, winning teams included the following:

MC Championship Round
Watertown Middle School – 1st Place
Galvin Middle School, Wakefield – 2nd Place 
St. Mary of the Annunciation School, Danvers – 3rd Place

Lancer Division
St. Mary of the Annunciation School, Danvers – 1st Place 
Cheverus School, Malden – 2nd Place

“Over the years, Malden Catholic’s Quiz Bowl has provided a forum where middle schools come together for friendly academic competition and celebrate and recognize the hard work of student learners,” said Cindy Jacobs, Malden Catholic Director of Guidance and Quiz Bowl Moderator.  “This year, we looked forward to providing students with an experience that not only challenged them, but allowed them to display their hard work, knowledge and school spirit.”

Congressman Edward Markey, a 1964 graduate of Malden Catholic, visited Quiz Bowl and spoke to students and parents in the auditorium about academics and the importance of college preparation.

Organized by Malden Catholic upperclassmen and run by students in each grade, the Quiz Bowl included teams from the following schools:
