The following was submitted by the Malden Girl Scouts Service Unit:

On January 26, the Girl Scouts of Malden met at St. Joseph’s church for a service project. Jessica Soper, Makayla Selden, and Rita Cook planned the event to help complete their Mission Sisterhood Journey award. The project consisted of blanket making and friendship activities. The blankets will be donated to the Crossroads Family Shelter in East Boston. Jessica, Makayla, and Rita met with Mary Beth Leon from the Junior Aid Association to find out more about theorganization and the work they do. The meeting inspired the girls to start this project. Troops from the entire city came to assist with the cutting and tying of the blankets. The Junior Aid Association also attended and helped. The friendship activities were for the girls and women to find connections from their lives and how they are similar. The goal was to unify and strengthen relationships.
