What began as an investigation into a possible break-in on Gale Street in Malden led to the resident of the home facing drug charges, according to police.

Tedros A. Hishe, 24, of 71 Gale St., was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession of class D substance with intent to distribute and trafficking cocaine after police responded to a security alarm system at his home, according to an e-mail from Police Capt. John Amirault.

The door to Hishe's home was open and had "fresh damage," Amirault said in the e-mail. As police conducted a sweep inside they found "a significant amount of cocaine and marijuana," Amirault said.

Police received a search warrant, and as they were executing it, Hishe returned home and was arrested.
