Four new Malden police officers were sworn in last week, including some with extensive experience in law enforcement, according to an announcement from the city.

James McCusker, Jonathan Mahoney, Elijah McNeal, and David Connelly were sworn in at a ceremony Aug. 7 with Mayor Gary Christenson, City Council President Neal Anderson and Police Chief Kevin Molis.

McCusker has spent the last 15 years  with the Westford Police Department, and Mahoney has seven years experience as a police officer, having spent the last three years with the Stoneham Police Department after four years at Boston University.

McNeal is a two-year veteran of the Lynn Police Department, and Connelly recently completed training at Reading Police Academy, the announcement said.

“The Malden Police Department is extremely pleased to welcome these very qualified officers into our ranks," Molis said in a statement. "They come to us with a great amount of professional and personal experience along with individual backgrounds that will greatly enhance our public safety mission."
