100 candidates to be naturalized at Senior Community Center

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present 100 candidates for naturalization to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on Thursday. The Honorable Frank J. Bailey, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge, will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens during a special naturalization ceremony hosted by The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. (ILC) and held at the John and Christina Markey Malden Senior Community Center on Oct. 24th.

Honored guests and speakers include: The Honorable Frank J. Bailey, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge; Gary Christenson, Mayor, City of Malden; Diane Portnoy, Founder and CEO, The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc.; Arthur G. Koumantzelis, Chairman, The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. Board of Trustees; and Kenneth Sherman, USCIS Acting Boston District Director. There will be special musical performances by students with The ILC.

The 100 citizenship candidates originate from the following 34 countries: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iran, Israel, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

The candidates reside in the following Massachusetts cities and towns: Cambridge, Everett, Lynn Malden, Medford, Melrose, Newton, Salem, Somerville, and Revere.
