Senior Alexis Martino with parents Fatima and Joe and brother Jared

The following was submitted by the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School:

The Volleyball team defeated St. Clement yesterday 3-0 to close out the season.  Jessica Phinney led the way with 21 assists and 11 aces.  The team finished the season 17-3.  It is the most wins by a volleyball team in a season in school history. The team ended the season on a 15 game win streak!

The team celebrated Senior Night before the game. Amazingly for a 17-3 team, there is only one senior on the squad, Alexis Martino. Prior to the game she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by her parents Fatima and Joseph and her brother Jared who is also a student at Mystic Valley. Coach Marc Arria said of Martino: “I am very happy that Alexis came out for volleyball this year.  It is great to have a senior presence on the team.  She has done an amazing job of learning and playing the game in such a short period of time.  I really wish I had the opportunity to coach her for more than one season.  She is a great kid, and the coaching staff and team wish her the best of luck in the future.”
