The following was submitted by the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School:
The Mystic Valley volleyball team fell to Lynnfield High School in the Division 3 North Semi-Final on Thursday night 3-1(19-25, 25-23, 8-25, 14-25) before a packed and loud house of supporters.
Mystic Valley came out hot going up early in the first set, but couldn't hold on as an extremely disciplined Lynnfield team regrouped and won the first set. Mystic Valley came back from a 6 point deficit in the second to take the set and tie the match at one set each.
The Eagles struggled receiving Lynnfield's serves in the third set. Throughout the night the Eagles were forced to work hard for every point they got by a Lynnfield team that did not make any mistakes. The Eagles never fully recovered from being down at the start of the third set and lost both the third and fourth sets.
Shannon Roseen had 16 kills and 18 digs. Jess Phinney finished with 27 assists and 8 digs.
Despite the loss, the team had a great year winning the most games in a season in program history and school history as well as going to the North Semi-Final for the first time in school history. The team returns all but one senior next year, so expect big things for the Mystic Valley Volleyball team.
