Local teens get chance to open concert
Josh Nelson (left) is one of modern Jewish music’s most popular performers, producers and, most recently, part of the team that’s composing the Broadway musical version of “Sleepless in Seattle.” His music is celebrated around the world and integrated into the repertoires of congregations, camps, and communities.
The event will take place at the Congregation Shirat Hayam in Swampscott. Four local bands will be selected to open for The Josh Nelson Project. Participating teen bands will begin dress rehearsal and master class workshops at 10 a.m. the morning of the concert. Also, any teen musician or band may sign up for “jam space” to play with other teens immediately before the Rockfest 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Members of local bands wishing to open for The Josh Nelson Project
should be a student in grades 8 through 12. Bands who would like to
audition should submit a video
of their band performing by Monday, Oct. 25. Musicians can review NSTI’s
Rockfest 2010 North Shore YouTube Audition Instructions before
submitting audition videos at www.nsteeninitiative.org.
Volunteers are needed to help with food, publicity, set up, clean up, or helping the band. Admission is free when you sign up in advance and $5 at the door. The performances are open to the public.
