The Pachamama Alliance, an organization protecting the Earth's rainforests and the indigenous people who live there, will be holding a symposium at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 28 Mugford St.

The event, called “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream,” will be held on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 1 to 5 p.m and will benefit the indigenous people of South America.

The Pachamama Alliance was developed based on a request from the Achuar, an indigenous people deep in the Amazon region of Ecuador. The Achuar were seeking a partnership with people from the industrialized world who would work with them in protecting their rain forest home and their traditional way of life.

There will be short films and clips shown at the symposium along with insights of indigenous people and group discussions. This is an open event and the community is invited to share this opportunity to aid the emergence of a spiritually fulfilling, environmentally sustainable, and socially just human presence on Earth.

To register, contact the Unitarian-Universalist Church at 781-631-1215 or by e-mail. For information about the Pachamama Alliance, visit awakeningthedreamer.org. The event will be $25 per person and $10 for students.
