Barefoot running shoes.jpg

Barefoot running shoes, which look like gloves for your feet, are part of a new fitness fad.

Barefoot running, a new fitness fad that has gained a strong following across the country, has everyone from Hollywood stars to Marblehead residents exercising in a more natural state.

irene_davis.jpgThe shoes required to take part in the craze are described as gloves for your feet and allow runners to be near barefooted while exercising. Dr. Irene Davis of Harvard Medical School, the Barefoot Running Professor, will be at the Jewish Community Center on Wednesday, June 22 at 6 p.m.  Davis will share tips on barefoot and minimal footwear running and simple ways to adjust your running style to boost performance and limit injuries.

The program is in collaboration with JCC partner Spaulding Outpatient Centers. This event is free and open to everyone. To save a spot, call 978-825-6600.
