Acting at the request of the Fair Housing Committee, selectmen recently voted to authorize the town to use its 2010 and 2011 funding allocations from the North Shore HOME Consortium  to help cover the cost of rehabilitating four existing affordable rental units in the Sewall building on Elm Street.

The consortium provides the town with annual funding from the federal HOME program, which supports affordable housing projects.

In some of its other business July 27, selectmen appointed Linda A. Doliber, Kerry O'Shaughnessy, Kyle Wiley, and Andrew Christensen to the Marblehead Forever Committee,  which works to plan events celebrating the town's history.
