The following was submitted by The Abbot Public Library:

On Wednesday, June 20th, at 7 p.m., the Poetry Salon at the Abbot Public Library will focus on the English poet, John Keats. He was one of the main figures of early 19th century Romanticism along with Byron, Shelley and Wordsworth. One of the most beloved of English poets, Keats had an enormous influence on poets and writers well into the 20th century.

Please bring your text with you to the Salon. We will be using The Essential Keats (Ecco Press) with an introduction by Philip Levine, the U. S. Poet Laureate. However, any collection of Keats’s poetry is acceptable. The Salon is free and open to the public. All are welcome; no previous knowledge of poetry or attendance at earlier Salons is required.

The Abbot Public Library is located at 235 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945. For additional information, please call 781-631- 1481, or consult the Library’s website at www.abbotlibrary.org.
