The following was submitted by Theatre of Light:

In November the Theatre of Light is offering “One Day” Theatre Workshops for children from the North Shore Communities which will take place at the Chabad of the North Shore, 44 Burrill Street in Swampscott.

The workshops being offered are: “CANDY LAND” for ages 6 to 9 on Sunday, November 11th and “IMPROV MANIA” for ages 10 to 16 on Sunday, November 18th. These workshops are from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, and will have a special presentation for the actor’s parents, relatives, and friends during the last 30 minutes of the workshop.

The “Candy Land” workshop will give young actors the opportunity to explore their creativity and bolster their self-confidence while preparing for a performance of “Candy Land”. The training will target essential theatre skills including strengthening concentration, character development, pantomime, speech, stage performance techniques, the art of being “believable”, teamwork, and learning how to take direction.

“Improv Mania” is ideal for actors who desire a change from working on structured play scripts by practicing the art of improvisation. The workshop offers the actors an opportunity to use an abundance of their creativity as they develop their own believable characters. The actors will also enhance their skills of deepened concentration, imagination, stage speech, and teamwork. The ending performance is: “Sunday Afternoon Live”!

Both workshops have a limited enrollment of 10 participants. The deadline for registration is November 4th. There is a nominal $50 participation fee. For more information or to receive an “e-brochure”, contact Miriam via telephone at 978-210-9818 or by emailing theatreoflight@comcast.net.
