For over four decades the Marblehead Festival of Arts has had a logo contest for its annual, ever-popular summer festival.
Tonight, the organization will reveal the 2013 logo contest winner.
The non-profit organization is hosting a Logo Premiere Party at 7 p.m. at The Landing restaurant in Marblehead .
The contest had nearly 50 entries and is down to three finalists.
“We want something that represents Marblehead, our community, which has a long history,” said Lynee DeVoe, Marblehead Festival of Arts president. “It’s an art community on a variety of fronts and we wanted something that is symbolic of Marblehead and indicates an art side of things.”
Normally, DeVoe added, the organization has between 50 and 150 entries, but it varies.
This year, three judges selected the top three submissions. The winner was chosen by the 1,400 north shore residents that casted their vote.
As for DeVoe, she would rather keep her favorite logo pick to herself.
“I really would prefer not to say,” DeVoe said. “I don’t always agree with the final decision, but it does go out for public vote and the most popular piece wins. The numbers have been overwhelming for the one that will be announced the winner today. I think either one would be a good choice.”
