A proposed rail crossing to Mattapan Station.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation will be in Mattapan Thursday night to update residents about the DCR’s project to link the Lower Neponset River Trail to the Neponset Esplanade.

The state agency recently applied for a federal Tiger grant to fund the completion of the trail, they should hear news about if they will be receiving the $13 million grant in the coming months.

The Tiger grant, which the group applied for in October, will be used to complete three sections along the Neponset River Corridor. The DCR will specifically be reviewing plans for the Lower Neponset River Trail at the Thursday night meeting.

DCR representatives also plan on speaking on the Neponset River Corridor project as a whole.

Residents interested in finding out more about the plans are encouraged to attend the public meeting at the Foley Senior Residences, Nov. 17 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

For more information about the meeting, call 617-626-4974 or e-mail DCR.Updates@state.ma.us.
