2012 is just around the corner. Here are a few helpful tips to make sure your New Year’s weekend is fun and safe.
On New Year’s Eve the MBTA will offer free service after 8 p.m. The T will also be offering extended hours Saturday night and Sunday morning. All trains, including the Mattapan Trolley, will operate on a normal Saturday schedule but the MBTA will be extending service until 2 a.m. Sunday. Buses will also run on a Saturday schedule.

If you are looking for a little family friendly entertainment NECN will bring the fireworks to your house with their Boston Family Fireworks celebration. Coverage of the 12-minute fireworks spectacular begins at 6 p.m. on NECN. Also don’t forget Boston’s annual First Night celebration which features everything from food to family activities from 1 p.m. – 12 a.m. Dec. 31.
If you are looking for a few activities for the kids in Mattapan on New Year's Eve why not join Miss Meghan at the Mattapan Branch Library for a night of crafts. The event is free and all are welcome. The event runs from 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Mattapan Branch Library at 1350 Blue Hill Ave.
