Mattapan Square Main Streets still without executive director, group considers extending application deadline again
The May 21 deadline for applications to fill the executive director position at Mattapan Square Main Streets has long since passed and the group is still without a director.
Brian McPherson, vice president of the group’s board and the chair of the committee to find an executive director, said the group has received a number of applications but is concentrating on funding at the moment.
“There is nothing new to report, we’re just trying to nail down our funding, which has become more of a priority than finding an executive director,” McPherson said by phone Tuesday.
McPherson said the group is also considering extending the application deadline again.
Boston Main Streets is a federally funded, citywide program that works to revitalize commercial districts through a combination of technical, financial, and design support. In November 2010, the city officially accepted Mattapan's application to become a recognized Main Streets District.
There are 20 Main Streets groups citywide.
