Citizens Bank to cut ribbon on new Mattapan location, present final installment of $150,000 grant to health center

More good news is coming to the Mattapan Community Health Center: Citizens Bank, one of the center’s newest tenants, announced it will be presenting the final installment of its grant to the health provider on Saturday.

The bank originally contributed a $150,000 grant over three-years to the health center at 1575 Blue Hill Ave. and it will cut the ribbon on its new home inside the center and present center staff with the final $50,000 grant installment over the weekend.

“I want to thank the Citizens Bank Foundation for its ongoing partnership and generous support that has helped us to double our capacity to serve the local community,” Dr. Azzie Young, president and CEO of the Mattapan Community Health Center, said in a statement. “I would also like to thank Citizens Bank for being such a cooperative partner.”

Saturday’s festivities will also coincide with the bank’s “Mattapan Customer Appreciation Days”, which is has designated September 21 and 22.

“We have planned two Mattapan Customer Appreciation days packed with information and activities to show customers how much we appreciate their business and how excited we are to be part of the revitalization of Mattapan Square,” Jerry Sargent, president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Massachusetts, said in a statement. “Citizens Bank has deep roots in the Mattapan community, and we invite our neighbors to join us to celebrate the relocation of our branch to the Mattapan Community Health Center complex.”

A ceremony will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the bank’s Blue Hill Avenue location to present the check and welcome the community into the bank's new location.

On Friday the bank will also hold four financial educational seminars about planning for retirement, budgeting, managing debt and purchasing a home.

Seminars include:

Retirement Planning - 10 a.m.
Budgeting for a Better Life - 12 p.m.
10 Steps to Digging Out of Debt” - 2 p.m.
Home Buying Essentials - 4 p.m.

The free seminars will be held at the branch and customers are encouraged to reserve their place by calling the branch at (617) 298-7927
