As students get back into the swing of things at school, Mattapan United wants to help local youths have a little fun with its “Community Fabric Jamboree” on Saturday.

The afternoon event, presented by the neighborhood grass-roots group and TOUCH 106.1 FM, will have a little bit of everything -- from a bouncy house and fun family-friendly activities, to information about healthy food and resources in the community.

"The event is aimed at supporting the unity and fabric of the Mattapan community by inviting families and children to celebrate going back to school," said Karleen Procena, the lead organizer for Mattapan United. "We want to make sure that students are ready and prepared to go back to school. We will have free back pack giveaways filled with books and school supplies for students. We will also have educational activities lead by Mattapan volunteers. "

The free event, will be held at the Mattahunt Wheelock Community Center at 100 Hebron St. from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
