A Blue Hill Avenue auto body shop, looking to display used cars for sale, will be back in front of the Mattapan community after the owner’s request for a delay on the license decision was granted by the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

The shop, located at 1339 Blue Hill Ave., was before the board Tuesday morning seeking to change the legal occupancy of the business from a car repair shop to a car repair shop with an outdoor display and the sale of used vehicles.

The request said up to 21 vehicles could be displayed on the property.

Gregory Nau, owner of the business, told the board Tuesday that the establishment had a license in the past to sell and display vehicles, but the license renewal had lapsed.

“There was a dealer’s license in place for 30-years and there was an oversight and it wasn’t renewed,” Nau said. “Now we have to go through the whole process again.”

The business had not met with the community prior to the hearing, according to a representative with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services.

At the hearing the Boston Redevelopment Authority recommended the request for the license be denied without prejudice.

A new hearing before the board was set for Jan 22.
