Shuttered in 2009, the old Mattapan Library on Hazelton Street has sat lightly used since Boston Public Library’s Blue Hill Avenue location opened.

Now, the city and Department of Neighborhood Development, which manages the property, is coming before the community to discuss the possible sale of the property.

A public meeting will be held Tuesday Dec. 3, to discuss what the community would like to see happen to the 81-year-old building and the 13,000-square-foot lot it resides on, according to the city's assessing department.

The public meeting will be held at the the new Mattapan Library at 1350 Blue Hill Ave. from 6 p.m. -7:30 p.m.

Tuesday's meeting is preliminary and no Request for Proposals have been issued, according to the Department of Neighborhood Development.
