T-Mobile Northeast, a cellular phone carrier, will be adding new antennas to its existing equipment on Deering Road in Mattapan, after its request was approved by the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

A representative for the company was before the board Tuesday seeking approval to replace the three existing antennas on the roof of the structure and add three new ones.

All of the antennas are currently located on two chimneys at 51-59 Deering Rd.

Adam Braillard, who represented T-Mobile Northeast Tuesday, said there will be no change to the current height of the antennas and that they will be used exclusively by T-Mobile.

“They’re all T-Mobile currently and there is no agreement with any sub carrier,” said Braillard.

At Tuesday’s hearing the petition received the support of Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, pending Boston Redevelopment Authority design review.

A representative from the office of Mattapan City Councilor Charles Yancey voiced opposition to the request because of neighborhood objections.
