Boston Shines events in Mattapan

Local resdients who took part in last year's cleanup of Mattapan Square.


With spring in full bloom residents are getting ready for the annual Boston Shines events set for this Saturday. In Mattapan there are a number of activities for those looking to get a little dirty helping their community shine.

The neighborhood group Mattapan United will be out sweeping up Mattapan Square Saturday. The group will be working in the square from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.

The local Pop Warner team, the Mattapan Patriots, have also organized a cleanup of their own for Saturday at Almont Park. Members of the team and local resident’s will be cleaning up at the park from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring sunscreen and water. Tools and trash bags will be provided.

Boston Shines, now in its 11th-year, is a city-wide spring cleaning that brings together residents, businesses, city officials, and community members to help beautify their neighborhoods. More information about city-wide activities and the history of the program can be found here.
