Voters in the First Suffolk, which includes South Boston, Dorchester, Mattapan, and a sliver of Hyde Park, will head to the polls next Tuesday to pick their next State Senator.

Joseph Anthony Ureneck, a Dorchester Republican, and Linda Dorcena Forry, a Dorchester Democrat, are both vying to fill the seat left vacant by South Boston resident Jack Hart.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 28. More information about where and how to vote can be found on the Boston Election Department’s website.

The race to fill the seat started in January when Hart resigned to take a job at a law firm. He was elected to the House in 1996 and to the Senate in 2002.

Prior to Hart, the seat was held by now US Representative Stephen Lynch from 1996 to 2001 and by William Bulger from 1971 to 1996.
