Medfield's seventh annual Angel Run will take place Sunday, Dec. 2. This year, the race is under new management.

When the Angel Run began in 2006, it was very personal. To a family who had lost a young daughter, and their supportive friends, organizing the 5K fun run/walk was a labor of love, a way to celebrate the short life of a little girl.

According to the Medfield Foundation Angel Run, the race has evolved into the town's annual, early-December community celebration of the holiday season, a 5K-long festival of caroling, costumes, and hot cocoa.

The Angel Run has also raised $120,000 since it started, and has provided emergency support to local families in need and funded a kindness scholarship for eight 2012 Medfield High School graduates.

The original organizing team, who created the event in memory of Natasha Domeshek and saw it grow over five years from 750 to 1,500 runners, has handed it off to a new team at the Medfield Foundation, Inc. (MFi). The goal of the transfer is to "retain the elements that established the Angel Run as a local institution, while broadening it from its highly personal roots," according to the foundation.
