Researchers from Tufts University are back at Woodsom Farm in Amesbury, continuing their multiyear study of the habitat requirements of grassland birds.
The farm is part of a study on field size and and why the birds often prefer large fields to smaller ones. Researchers are looking at factors including availability of food, vegetation, predators, and physical attributes of the birds.
The study will include a count of the number of birds at Woodsom Farm, as well as analysis of various bird behaviors and insect populations. Nets will be used throughout the study area. Those visiting the farm are asked not to approach or tamper with the nets as this may endanger the birds and impact the research.
Dog walkers are asked to obey Amesbury leash laws and not allow pets to approach the nets. The research will continue through the fall. For further information, contact lead researcher Alexander Keyel at email@example.com.
