A Charlestown man accused of a February shooting death and home invasion on Jerome Street in West Medford will be arraigned Monday morning in Middlesex Superior Court, the District Attorney's office said.

Gerald Sullivan, 37, was indicted June 30 on charges of murder, two counts of home invasion, and one count each of armed assault to murder, armed assault to rob, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, according to the office Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.

According to investigators, Sullivan and another man forced their way into the home at 55B Jerome St., and demanded money and jewelry from Johhny Hatch, 37, and his father, John Viera.

The men struggled before Sullivan allegedly shot Hatch and Viera before fleeing. Both were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where Hatch was pronounced dead. Viera survived, but was maimed in the shooting.

Police identified and charged Sullivan after DNA evidence found at the crime scene matched a profile found in a federal DNA database.

Sullivan also was charged with five counts of being a habitual offender, and one count each of possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition as an armed career criminal, according to the District Attorney.

Hatch was remembered by friends as a musician who helped found the Boston hip-hop group Mikst Nutz, which gained popularity in the mid 1990s, the Globe reported in February.

Sullivan was previously in custody when he was charged, Leone's office said.
