Tufts presents 'Speaking of Voice'

MEDFORD/SOMERVILLE, MA – The Tufts University Department of Music is excited to host world renown actress and vocalist Alicia Hall Moran for a lecture-demo in the Distler Performance Hall at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 8 p.m. Facilitated by Barbara Grossman of the Drama & Dance Department and Radiclani Clytus of the English Department, the discussion will focus on Ms. Moran’s career performing multiple genres of music, from jazz to classical, and expressing herself through multiple mediums, from opera-cabarets to visual art performances. Ms. Moran will also share her experiences on her current projects, which include Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess at the American Repertory Theatre and the motown project. Her performance will be accompanied by David Coleman, director of the Tufts Third Day Gospel Choir.

Alicia Hall Moran is a mezzo-soprano who performs a diverse array of music, drama, and dance. She is currently an understudy to Audra McDonald (Bess) at the A.R.T., and continues to write for her weekly classical music column, Suite Sounds, which appears in the New York Amsterdam News.
