McGlynn tops D'Antonio for another term in Medford

Twelve minutes after polls closed, Michael J. McGlynn, the longest serving mayor in the Commonwealth, awaits precincts to report. Minutes later he declared victory.
Mayor Michael J. McGlynn claimed another term in office last night, grabbing 64.3 percent of the vote against political neophyte Anthony D'Antonio.
With 8,895 votes cast and all precincts reporting, McGlynn won with 5,721 to D'Antonio's 3,174. McGlynn took every precinct, even in his opponent's stronghold in South Medford.
"What we had tonight is called a clean sweep," McGlynn said, shouting
over the din of several dozen supporters who gathered at the Hyatt
Hotel near Medford Square.
"Some people said it was about change. Some
people said it was about the status quo. I always said it was about
moving the city forward and improving the quality of life," he said.
