Mayor Michael J. McGlynn on Thursday will present an agreement with Verizon to provide cable television for the city during a public hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium at City Hall.

The City Council in 2008 passed a resolution for Verizon to consider negotiating with Medford to bring its fiber-optic service to the city to increase cable competition. The city is now serviced only by Comcast.

At the hearing, Verizon officials will explain the details of what they propose for the city. State law allows a mayor to issue cable television licenses.
