Local officials will hold a hearing this Wednesday in Medford on a state proposal to hike bus and T fares while cutting services.

The hearing, at Medford City Hall in the City Council chambers at 6:30 p.m., will be hosted by state Representatives Carlo Sciortino, Paul Donato, and Sean Garballey, in addition to state Senator Patricia Jehlen.

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority faces a $161 million deficit next budget year. T leaders have scheduled more than two dozen regional hearings to discuss the service cuts.

At each meeting so far, Jonathan Davis, MBTA acting general manager has been in attendance. Davis also resides in Medford.
