Tufts to present small jazz ensembles

The following was submitted by Tufts University:

The Tufts University Department of Music presents Tufts Small Jazz Ensembles in a series of three concerts from April 12-19, 2012 at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center. 

Two ensembles under the direction of Nando Michelin, and the Tufts Jazz Choir, led by Tisha Stadnicki, will perform works for smaller combos on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 8 p.m., including music by Simons and Marks, Hanley and Buck, Michel Legrand, Smokey Robinson, and Billie Holiday.

On Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 7 p.m., Tufts Small Jazz Ensembles under the direction of Paul Ahlstrand and Tufts student Michael Siegel will perform am evening of works for smaller combos, including music by Clifford Brown, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Horace Silver, Otis Redding, and Steve Cropper.

On Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 8 p.m., Tufts Small Jazz Ensembles under the direction of Scott Aruda and Nando Michelin perform an evening of works for smaller combos, including music by John Coltrane, Chick Corea, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Each performance will take place in either the Distler Performance Hall (April 12) or the Fisher Performance Room (April 15 and 19) of the Granoff Music Center, located at 20 Talbot Avenue on Tufts’ Medford/Somerville campus.  Admission is free and open to the public.  For more information, please visit as.tufts.edu/music/musiccenter or call the Granoff Music Center Box Office at 617.627.3679.
