An Episcopalian church and a Catholic church will celebrate Palm Sunday together in Medford in a procession that will include dancers, a band and a man dressed as Jesus riding from one church to the other on horseback.

Grace Episcopal Church and St. Joseph Parish have been celebrating Palm Sunday together for 30 years, Grace Church's the Rev. Noah Evans said.

"The tradition began and continues as an ecumenical expression between two churches who are just a block from one another," Evans said in an e-mail. "The two parishes from different traditions share in a common faith, and concern for the wider community."

Traditionally, St. Joseph parishioners make the short walk along High Street to the historic Grace Church, but this year, St. Joseph will be the host. Also new this year is the addition of a reenactor dressed as Jesus riding a horse, Evans said.

The ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
