Water main project goes out to bid

Posted June 25, 2009 07:14 PM

A public bid opening will be held on Wednesday to choose a contractor to install new water mains along Mt. Vernon Street, Mt. Vernon Avenue, Forest Street, Willard Street, and Ells Avenue.

The city will use low-interest loans from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority to pay for the project, which will include the installation of 4,800 linear feet of cement-lined ductile iron water mains, valves, hydrants, and copper service connections.

The bids will be opened at 10 a.m. in the public works office at City Hall.
