Melrose Police log: threatening calls, sibling rivalry, and egging cars
Besides an alleged father-son stabbing incident on Friday, Melrose Police had a busy week that included reports of threatening phone calls, a possible kidnapping attempt, and youths egging cars on Lynn Fells Parkway.
A caller reported seeing the Logan Painting company pouring paint down a sewer on Walnut Street on Monday afternoon. An officer noted the complaint.
Officers contacted the State Police after a woman said she observed a male hitting a female in a car on Lynn Fells Parkway on Tuesday morning. Officers forwarded the license plate number of the car in question.
About an hour later, someone at 115 East Emerson St. said an unidentified caller threatened to break the resident's neck. The resident reported a similar call on Wednesday morning.
Police responded to an "unruly customer" at the treasurer's office at City Hall on Wednesday morning, but a "minor misunderstanding" was eventually settled, according to the log.
A resident of 123 Howard St. reported threatening phone calls early Wednesday evening.
Cliffton Butt, of 24 Cleveland St., reported that his son Samuel Butt, 37, was causing a disturbance early Thursday morning. Police took Samuel into protective custody.
The Melrose Housing Authority on Main Street received harassing phone calls on Thursday afternoon, according to the log.
Things reportedly got heated between the Clancy brothers of 21 Oakland St. on Thursday evening. Police referred John Clancy, 39, and Daniel Clancy, 42, for arrest on charges of threatening one another after a domestic disturbance.
Police responded to a report of youths attempting to remove a stop sign at the corner of 147 Grove St. and 9 Dell Ave. early Friday evening. The log states that peace was restored.
Police assisted the Saugus department after a shooting at the Jin Entertainment Complex in Saugus early Saturday morning.
Officers received word of a hispanic male possibly trying to abduct a juvenile on Saturday morning at the corner of 77 Upham St. and 499 Lebanon St. He drove a small, silver van, according to the report.
A caller reported seeing about 50 kids throwing eggs at cars near 498 Lynn Fells Parkway on Saturday night. An officer told the group to move along.
A caller reported three juveniles burning something in the Lincoln School yard on Sunday night. An officer found three men, aged 18 to 20, smoking cigarettes at the scene and told them to leave.
