Tom Cruise movie filming in Melrose

Melrosians can expect a little excitement this Friday night.

"Knight and Day," a film starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, will be filming on the Fellsway this weekend, according to a statement from the office of Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan.

"Melrose is becoming as popular as Rodeo Drive, it seems,'' Dolan said.


The Fellsway will be closed from Washington Street to East Border Road, from about 6 p.m. on Friday until about 7 a.m. on Saturday, to accommodate the cast and crew.

There was no immediate word from the city on whether Cruise or Diaz would be on hand.

Friday's shoot comes on the heels of a recent Ben Affleck sighting on Main Street. The Cambridge native was shooting scenes for his upcoming film "The Town."
