The following is a campaign announcement from Monica Medeiros, who is running for state Representative:

MELROSE, MA - Surrounded by family, friends, elected officials, political candidates and supporters, Melrose Alderman Monica Medeiros kicked off her campaign to be the next State Representative from the 32nd Middlesex district last Wednesday night at Memorial hall in Melrose.

Monica said, “There’s a new team coming to Beacon Hill. I’d like to introduce you to some members of that team.” With that she introduced numerous candidates running for State Senate and State Representative seats locally and across Massachusetts. The large, standing room only crowd was enthusiastic with applause after each introduction. She fired up the crowd further when she said “Together, we are going to go up to Beacon Hill and change the way they do business up there.”

She then laid out her plan to bring accountability and responsible budgeting to Beacon Hill, to keep and attract jobs in the Commonwealth.

Monica was introduced by her Campaign Chairman, Melrose Alderman-at-Large Donald Conn who said “Monica is too modest to talk about her accomplishments. So I will.” Don went on to talk about Monica’s education and experience as a Melrose Alderman and how her experience on the Melrose School Committee set her apart from all the others in the race.

He spoke of her middle class roots and how she worked her way through college while still managing to graduate summa cum laude from Northeastern University. He also praised Monica for her work with her Ward Two constituents as they underwent the large and invasive public works drainage improvement project.

Monica’s friend and former candidate for State Representative in Wakefield, Michael Motzkin talked about how hard working, caring and compassionate Monica is. He emphasized that she is always willing to take the extra step in helping people out.

The 32nd Middlesex district encompasses Melrose and precincts 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Wakefield.
