The following is a press release from the Melrose Youth Lacrosse League:

The Melrose U13 Select All-star Lacrosse team played for the 2010 Championship on Friday June 18th at Salem State College against the Hamilton-Wenham Generals.

It was an excellent match-up, but in the end, Hamilton-Wenham came out on top.

This was the first year for the Bay State Select Lacrosse League. Melrose had two boys teams participating, U15 and U13.

They competed against the best talent from other towns in the North East including North Reading, Marblehead, Tribal, Ipswich, Danvers, Lynnfield, Beverly, Hamilton-Wenham & Newburyport.

The league is built on the foundation of the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League and is focused on continuing to develop a passion for youth lacrosse and dedicated to the highest level of sportsmanship. It offers players who participate in their town programs an opportunity to play an additional game each week at a higher competitive level including a season ending tournament.

More information can be found at the leagues website www.MYLL.org.
