Melrose police are still searching for a man who robbed a local bank before fleeing the area on Thursday afternoon.

The suspect, who is described as a bald white male in his mid-thirties wearing sunglasses, entered the Melrose branch of the East Boston Savings Banks on 108 Main Street around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, police said. He passed a note to the teller demanding money and fled on foot toward the nearby Oak Grove Orange Line Station with an undetermined amount of cash, a police report stated.

A coordinated search of the area by Melrose, Malden and MBTA Transit Police was initiated, and a further investigation involving the FBI and state police Bank Robbery Task Force is ongoing.

Members of the public with information on the suspect should contact Melrose Police at (781) 665-1212.
