The following was submitted by the Polymnia Choral Society:

Under the baton of Music Director Murray Kidd, Polymnia will present “A Salute to the Great White Way” on Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 pm in Memorial Hall, 590 Main Street, Melrose.  Music will include a wide variety of songs from Broadway composers such as Rogers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and “Fats” Waller.

Devin McCall, Melrose High School senior and winner of Polymnia’s “Spotlight on High School Talent” contest, will sing with the choral group.  McCall has appeared in many productions, most recently in Melrose High School’s “Legally Blond: The Musical” and has won awards for acting excellence.  Popular local performer Leigh Barrett will be the guest soloist and the a cappella men’s group Blue of a Kind will also be featured.

“We’re doing a very diverse and fun group of songs. We will be joined by a professional band of amazing jazz professionals and they are going to take our music even higher in energy,” said Kidd.

Drinks and snacks will be available and there will be a silent auction.  Polymnia is made up of over 60 singers from cities and towns north of Boston.  It is a not-for-profit organization, supported in part by a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Tickets are $25, $15 for seniors and students, and $30 for table tickets, available online at www.polymnia.org or at Sweet Thoughts, 504 Main Street, Melrose.
