Big band concert and dance slated for Nov. 10 at Memorial Hall

The following was submitted by Arnold Koch on behalf of the American Big Band Preservation Society:
“The Big Bands Are Back”, a concert and dance to be held at Melrose Memorial Hall on Saturday evening, Nov. 10, is the subject of MMTV’s “Matters of Interest: Big Band” being shown on Verizon’s Channel 39 or Comcast Channel 3.
Sponsored by the American Big Band Preservation Society (ABBPS) proceeds fund the ABBPS “In-school performance and clinic” programs.
Guests include Dan Gable, ABBPS CEO and leader of the 17-piece big band, Amanda Carr, founder of the society and lead vocalist. Long time big band singer, Nancy Carr, is also on the program and joins in the discssion of the world of the big bands. The event will pay tribute to the well-known Totem Pole Orchestra bandleader, Bob Batchelder, who was also an assistant superintendent of schools in Melrose.
Frank Goodhue is the host and Arnold Koch the MMTV producer. Consult the program schedule on MMTV’s website, mmtv3.org.

Time: 6:30-10:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.)
