A surveillance camera captured an armed robbery at Richdale Convenience Store in Melrose Wednesday.

Police in Melrose are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store Wednesday night.

A man dressed head to toe in black with his face concealed entered the Richdale Convenience store on West Wyoming Avenue about 9 p.m., pointed a pistol at a store employee, and took an unspecified amount of money from the register, according to a statement from Melrose Police Lieutenant Mark DeCroteau.

A surveillance camera captured the robbery, but the images offer little help in identifying the suspect, whose face was concealed by a hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap, sunglasses, and a cloth mask covering his mouth. He was also wearing track pants and a leather jacket.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Melrose Police detective bureau at 781-979-4473 or 781-979-4472. Anonymous tips can be called into 781-979-4470.
