MILTON – A quiet upscale neighborhood near the Blue Hills Reservation is in shock today after learning that a man's body was found Monday night in the street.
Standing in the doorway of his home on Brierbrook Street this morning, Chris Tosi said he learned of the discovery from a police officer Monday night.
"He told me that a body had been found in the street,'' Tosi said. "We knew nothing because we had been indoors with our kids.''
"Pretty freaky,'' Tosi said. "Pretty weird.''
According to Norfolk District Attorney William R. Keating's office and Milton Police Chief Richard G. Wells, passersby found the body on Brierbrook between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The body of the young man, who was a "victim of obvious trauma," will undergo an autopsy today that could yield more clues in his death, Keating spokesman David Traub said this morning.
Wells said last night it was difficult to determine the manner of death because the body was badly mangled when it was found.
Wells said police were looking for a white Audi and a dark-colored sedan seen leaving the area. "This does not appear to be connected to any activity in this neighborhood," he said.
Wells, who lives nearby, said he couldn't remember another time that police had to respond to the neighborhood for trouble.
Late this morning, police cordoned off an area on the lawn of 50 Brierbrook St.. Police at the scene said that the body was found in the street in front of that home and that body parts from the victim may have swept onto the lawn by a street sweeper.
