A liquor-soaked pool party drew as many as 1,500 revelers to a mansion on Mark Lane in Milton over Labor Day weekend, and now the owner is in trouble with the law for serving alcohol without a license, police said.

“The complaints were mostly parking-related,” said Deputy Police Chief Charles Paris. “A couple noise complaints, but nothing serious.”

Six Milton officers arrived at the bash at 4 Mark Lane shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 1, Paris said. Homeowner Steven Mathieu, 40, was present at the residence, Paris said.

The affair was named the “Make it Nasty Pool Party” and hosts sent out brochures to advertise for the event, Paris said. The ads offered tickets for $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Guests had the option to pre-order bottles of alcohol or make use of the cash bar at the mansion, he said.

Officers shut down the party in an orderly fashion in an hour and a half, Paris said. No arrests were made.

He said the party-goers were all 21 or older. “There were no indications of any underage drinking,” Paris said.

Most of the 1,000 to 1,500 guests were in the pool house, located next to the mansion, he said.

Mathieu will likely be charged for serving alcohol without a license. “We’ll summons him to court and seek complaints against him,” Paris said.
