The Milton Historical Society and the Blue Hills Trailside Museum will co-sponsor a “Massachusetts Native People” program Nov. 18 at the museum.

Jack Dempsey, writer, editor, and filmmaker, will discuss how Native people of the area understood the natural world and how their life endured and changed over time. He will also discuss the particular ways Massachusetts coastal peoples responded to the arrival of Europeans.

Dempsey’s film “Ancient Lights” is a “celebration of Ancient Crete and Early America,” a news release about the event said.

The program will take place at the museum, 1904 Canton Ave. in Milton, on Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. It is free and suitable for all ages.
