Two Pierce Middle School seventh-graders have recently been chosen to receive the John F. Kennedy Make a Difference Award.

Caitlin Donahoe and Teresa McDonald organized a teddy bear drive for disabled children at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton. After collecting dozens of bears, the girls went to the school to deliver them and work with some of the young patients.

The two girls were nominated by Erin MacCurtain, a guidance counselor at Pierce Middle School, and will be honored on Tuesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library on Morrissey Boulevard.

The Make a Difference Award is given to up to 100 middle school students across the state for public service.
