The Milton Public Schools hired Sheila Kukstis as the new principal of the Glover Elementary School.

Kukstis previously served as assistant superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of Boston, serving in a district with 41,000 students in 121 schools. She has also been principal of the Joseph C. Chamberlain School in Taunton, the St. Jerome School in Weymouth, and the St. Andrew the Apostle School in Jamaica Plain.

“As always, my priority is the education of each student in the Milton Public Schools,” said Mary Gormley, superintendent of the Milton Public Schools. “I am certain that Dr. Kukstis’s talents and experience will assure the continuation of the outstanding educational experience offered to each student in the Glover Elementary School.”

Jerry Vitti, a Glover parent and member of the screening committee, said the search for a new principal was thorough.

The new principal "brings a wealth of experience, high energy, and great enthusiasm to her work,” Vitti said. “We are excited for the entire Glover community.”

Kukstis will begin her new position on July 1.
