The Milton Public Schools hired Karen Cahill as the new director of guidance for Milton High School.

Cahill has been with the Milton Public Schools since 1993, beginning at Pierce Middle School as a math teacher and later as a guidance counselor. She moved to Milton High School and served as a guidance counselor in 2009.

“Karen is a very capable, intelligent, task-oriented individual who understands student and staff needs,” said Milton High Principal James Jette. “She is effective and efficient and I know she will work very well with parents, guardians, students, and colleagues.”

Jette served on a guidance director screening committee with Vice Principal Yolanda Beech, mathematics department head Courtney Walsh, and counselor and teacher representatives Leonice Bernard, Karen Hughes, and Larry Jordan.

Cahill will replace Ken Aubert, who announced his retirement in the spring.
